    Something else that also has space Romans is Ultima by Stephen Baxter. Much of it takes place in an alternate timeline where the Roman empire still exists in the 2220s.

    Also, “High Gothic” being essentially bastardised Latin, which honestly fits with the theme of chasing a glorious past with only fragments of knowledge left about it. Ave Deus Machina!
