Y’all it’s bout to be 100 degrees all next week where I am. My ideal temp is between 60-70 so I’m wilting at the thought.
I love love love layers and accessories, but that is difficult right now. So here’s what I’ve got:
- loose, open, light-colored cotton tops that can be worn over a tank top.
- hats that allow ventilation but keep the sun out of your eyes.
- lightweight jewelry can be layered.
- I don’t step outside in any degree weather without sunglasses.
- if you’re pulling your hair up, there are all kinds of bows and scarves that will add interest without adding insulation.
If anyone has tips for staying fashionable in the extreme heat, I’d love to hear them!

- if possible, skip the bra and use pasties or something minimal to hide the nipple
- wear natural fibers like linen (not cotton or synthetics like polyester)
- agreed with others re sunscreen, wear and re-apply, and wear hats and cover up with UV protective clothing if you know you’ll be in the sun
- wear less clothing 😉
- bring a change of clothes
- move from air-conditioned place to air-conditioned place and don’t dwell in the humid hell between
Viscose is really cool.
It’s gonna be a first for me, but I’m getting a hat for this summer.
I have said this a thousand times, I will say it a thousand more: Scrub pants.
You can find them in different styles, you can find looser or more close fitting. You can even find them with patterns! They’re lightweight and breathable while still keeping your legs covered if you want, they handle the wash great, they’re flexible with your legs…
It might seem basic, but you can make them look good.
Interesting, I never would have thought of that.

I thrift most of my stuff. I’ve found good deals at Goodwill, independent thrift stores, and Poshmark.
It’s far too hot to put a top over a top. I’m wearing a single layer (currently a bright green a-line linen dress).
gurlll where do you live? the sun? (unless it’s in yank measures)
I live in yanksville, usa.

Ok, so I have hair that is kinda wavy but in a was-attacked-on-subway kind of way. And the heat/humidity makes it way worse. But I recently got some Bed Head salt spray (which I totally misused and flat ironed my hair anyway) and was pleasantly surprised that it kept my hair in good order in the New Orleans heat and humidity. Limited frizz, no reverting back to waves/curls.
