I feel like after what happened in Germany recently that doesn’t hold as much water. If the average left wants to defend socialized healthcare and tax the rich, then the Dems are left.
Democrats don’t want to do either of that. Folks like AOC and Bernie should realistically be on their own party.
If they don’t want to do that then they should stop writing laws that do that. They should stop campaigning on that platform.
I remember conservatives freaking out that Kamala Harris supported a capital gains tax over a million dollars “it will destroy the economy”.
There has been no law that does that enacted in my lifetime.

I’ll admit it’s a bit of hyperbole but the amount of effort they put into shutting Bernie out left me with quite the sour taste.
He isn’t in the DNC and they still include him in their presidential primaries, if anything it seems unfair how much preferential treatment he gets compared to other third parties.
They didn’t include him out of kindness but because excluding him would alienate a huge part of their base. They publicly let him in and then behind the scenes made sure he wouldn’t get far.
Recent events have shown clearly how much more public support Bernie is able to pull compared to those deluded old establishment types in the DNC. Schumer keeps yapping the same old platitudes while their numbers keep falling. Meanwhile Bernie’s selling out stadiums even in red states.
He did get far. Millions of people voted for him, he won many districts, and then lost the primaries due to the fact that millions more people voted for Hillary and for Biden.
What a profound lack of class consciousness and knowledge of political repression.

Why did Democrats ban large campaign contributions from 2003 until 2010 when the SCOTUS overturned the law?
Who was president from 2009 to 2017 and could have passed a different law? Who was president from 2021 to 2025?
To overrule the SCOTUS interpretation of the constitution you would need to amend the constitution, required 60 Senators and a house majority. Since 2013 there haven’t even been more dems than repubs before caucus, much less 60.
Does that mean they could have overturned it between 2010-2013, but didn’t?
They never had 60 votes. They had a 58 + 2 ind caucus for 72 days and chose to use that time to expand medicaid to millions of americans.

Biden should have announced he wasn’t running and allowed the primary process to play out. If he hadn’t, then the DNC should have overridden him. It’s unbelievable that they didn’t anticipate or care that Trump would win again.
It was a pretty convenient way for them to hand pick a nominee. Given how the last two played out I don’t think that’s an unfair lens to view the situation through.
They really wanted Biden to win it and immediately step down for his illness that they all knew he had so that Kamala could take over without having to run herself. They knew she wouldn’t win a primary, but it was her turn after all.
Biden’s disaster debate ruined that plan and Kamala’s mishandled campaign doomed them.
I’m sorry that bringing up how absolutely not even close both of those primaries were makes me an idiot.
