Recently tried singani for the first time, it’s super unique.
I brought a bottle home with me, and you can buy one brand in the USA/UK, Singani63, which is the main brand in Bolivia just relabeled for international sale.
So far I like it straight, and also I’ve made what is essentially a Tom Collins with it, brings out a lot of the flavors.
Out and about I had a singani sour, but I didn’t look into the details of what was in it, and I’m not a mixologist 😬
Reddit suggests the Choofly, 2oz Singani, half oz tequila, 0.75oz each of pineapple and lime, with celery bitters, shaken with an egg white.
That sounds complicated, but hopefully gives you a few directions to go in - pineapple, tequila, celery flavors.
Interesting! Thanks, I’ll report back 👍
Never heard of it. Is it similar to Pisco?
After some research, apparently its closest comparison is pisco yes.
It seems like an agave spirit vs tequila, or sparkling wine vs champagne, situation. It’s a pisco, but the location makes the specific flavor, and so you can’t legally make singani elsewhere than Tarija Bolivia.
I’ve only had pisco mixed in drinks, never bought and tried any on its own, so I can’t compare personally. But I can say that singani tasted really unique and delicious to me, enough that I decided to make room in my luggage so I could share it with friends at home. Before I knew that Singani63 was literally a re-label of the same stuff I brought home 🤦♂️
I love me some Pisco Sour and would be fun to compare with Singani. Not sure I can get it where I live but I’ll see if I can.
