I genuinely have no idea what this person is talking about. They wrote down the number and then transformed to remember the number that they already wrote down?

I really enjoy my job. I spend my time solving problems and work on projects that improve the water supply for the country. I enjoy working late because I don’t have any meetings, so I am unburdened enough to actually work. I don’t think I could work more than 50 hours a week though.
I think this is the sort of assertion I would be careful making.
Trans people and drag queens, like all segments of the population, are not completely insusceptible to being pedophiles. Further, if there is a trans person or drag queen on the list, which is not impossible, they will be the one made an example of, even if 90% of the list is male billionaires.
People who drive with unsafe mechanical issues they can’t or won’t get fixed are still going to exist, and bald tires and worn brakes would eliminate any potential safety benefits of self driving.
In European nations we just inspect the shit out of every car to ensure safety. The car must be mechanically satisfactory and have adequate brakes, tyres, etc.
Now I can sleep at any time virtually anywhere.
just to chime in, I have the polar opposite of your experience and still can zonk out in 5 mins any time I like. The only consistent thing is that I get a minimum of 6 hours of sleep a night, but my smartwatch still gives me sleep ratings in the high 80s and low 90s almost every night. No idea if this is in any way scientific but people on Reddit seem to value it.
I also am registered as having the stress of a puddle, similarly.
For most people, I think it is more to do with genetics rather than any real habits. I think all you really need to do is make your bedroom completely dark and slightly cold, and exercise a couple of times a week.
That’s simply wrong (in Danish)
Well the vowel Ø represents OE in Danish.
It’s a noise that is between the English noises “oo” and “u”.

paranoiato World News@lemmy.world•Holiday travel financially out of reach for 40% of people in FranceEnglish3·27 days agoI think you are severely overestimating the amount of money needed for a holiday, or your social cohort is quite far below the average income skewing your idea of what is rich, and how many people are “rich”.
Australians are pretty well paid overall and get 20 days of paid holidays a year. A quick Google says that 55% of Australians have a passport. Okay, travel from Australia is expensive, but people definitely do it every few years.
Survey from 2023 states:
The majority of Australians surveyed (85%) have been on holiday in the last five yearsMore than 90% of 18-27 year olds surveyed have been on holiday in the last five years.

It’s lovely to throw stones, but you’re in the most delicate glasshouse of them all.
Partial agreement. I think that medication for mental illnesses is still essentially in the dark ages, and it’s partially because they were not allowed to use the plants for research to determine what about them was effective, correctly engineer them into a standardised type, and work on the therapies to work best with them.
The physical point I don’t agree with. In these instances, the effective plants have been researched and their mode of action has (generally) been determined. It is then possible to engineer them into higher and more consistent effectiveness in the human body, than the plants which essentially had an effect by random chance.

Yeah but these people are also stupid, unable to recognize they are also causing their own suffering with this.

To become a high ranked member of the democratic party that is in consideration for the US Presidency, you have had to put in decades of political work and show loyalty to the party. You have had to work within the constraints of the party, even when you don’t 100% agree with them, and be considered as responsible by the public for bad decisions. Your career may have hit rocky patches because of choices the party made, despite them not being your personal beliefs.
To be Bernie Sanders was actually quite an easy political position, for the most part. He got to vote how he liked, did not have to sit under the party whip, and was only responsible for his own decisions. He did not have to do anything that was politically difficult, as he was never in power.
So my view on it is that there is just no reason why the democratic party should have gone along with him as their representative. If he wanted to have a chance at being the president, he needed to put in the political legwork, become a democrat, and have to go with the party whip sometimes, even if he didn’t personally believe in what he was voting for.
To have selected him would have meant that there was one less reason to be a democrat, as you could just be an opportunistic, populist independent.
Great, then mirror some of his policies. However were I a democratic politician, I simply would not reward a politician who has been outside the party structure for decades with endorsement for presidency. For me it would effectively be like skipping the queue.
