_cryptagion [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would you drive an extra 20 minutes (10 miles) to get the blizzard on the right?English4·17 hours agothe neat thing about measurements of distance is even if you drive 20 kilometers , you’re still driving for miles .

_cryptagion [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Proton @lemmy.world•PSA: F**k Proton Drive - Not a single way to export media!English53·18 hours agoWhy is it people think backing up your files means just sending them to another single point of failure? This is no better than keeping them on your own drive, you just added more steps and made it harder on yourself, and paid someone else for the privilege.

_cryptagion [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Technology@lemmy.world•Bluesky blocks Mississippi users over age verification lawEnglish13·1 day agothe “bigger-boys”, as you put it, are currently fighting it together on appeal in a lawsuit. once the appeal is finished, it will probably head to the supreme court, where Kavanaugh has said it will likely be found unconstitutional.
_cryptagion [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Technology@lemmy.world•Bluesky blocks Mississippi users over age verification lawEnglish19·1 day agothis doesn’t kill the fediverse. mississippi can’t do shit to you if you aren’t in mississippi unless the state you’re in agrees to cooperate with them. and that’s only after they subpoena your hosting provider, which might not even cooperate with them at all if they are outside US jurisdiction. and if you go through cloudflare? that’s another subpeona from a corporation that doesn’t like revealing information about their users and has gone to federal court on many occasions to fight both state and federal governments.
any state that doesn’t have one of these laws on the books is unlikely to decide to extradite you for something that isn’t illegal where you live, especially since it’s not a criminal charge.
_cryptagion [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Flippanarchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•It's super effective!English7·1 day agothe only other links I found were reddit, and they had all been deleted for violating reddit rules. can’t have people celebrating cops getting their asses kicked. I imagine it’s somewhere on youtube, but there was weeks of protests so there’s many hours of video from them.
honestly I’m shocked the facebook one stayed up, they’re not any better than reddit for censoring protests. especially since this was filmed several years ago, it’s a wonder the video didn’t get zucked.

_cryptagion [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Flippanarchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Still waiting...English81·2 days agonothing. that’s what happens. the head admin of this instance regularly posts things critical of tankies. nobody has ever been banned from dbzer0 for being critical of the CCP or Russia.
putin is an authoritarian, imperialist despot who should be dragged from the kremlin and shot. the tankies on ML and hexbear are nothing more than useful idiots. I don’t care who disagrees with that. now watch me not get banned for it.

_cryptagion [he/him]@anarchist.nexusOPto Lefty Memes@lemmy.dbzer0.com•There's *one* voluntary hierarchyEnglish242·2 days agohere’s my reply to another comment like yours:
that wouldn’t really be a hierarchy because there’s no authority involved. if you’re deferring to someone’s skill, that’s not authority, because you have the freedom to do that and it is voluntary. you or the other people can leave that association at any time.
a hierarchy is, as CrocodilloBombardino@piefed.social so sufficiently just put it, “an institutional set of involuntary command/control relationships”.

I didn’t even hint that I was a tankie. this is an anarchist comm. on an anarchist server. your insistence that we are tankies is your uneducated problem, not ours.
you can change an existing Jellyfin server to use LDAP, yes. it obviously resets your watch history, since your LDAP user would be different than the user you created when Jellyfin was first launched. you would still need to convince everyone to do that though.
