Monkyhandsto Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week?3·25 days agoThis is my plan too - going to use the Easter break to kick off a new playthrough of BG3, can’t wait!
Took a day off from the gym yesterday, which was needed, and kind of a win in itself.
But the real win was noticing that I missed working out, and being excited to get down the gym today.
I’m so happy to have built this habit to a point that it’s something I genuinely miss if I don’t go.
Women aren’t a monolith, just as men aren’t. There are women who will appreciate your emotional openness, especially if you are able to regulate and communicate those emotions in a healthy way.
Edit to add: my relationship to my husband has only grown deeper as he has learnt to better access and express his emotions. In particular, he is working on accessing emotions other than anger, and this has really helped us grow our connection.
Monkyhandsto Gaming@beehaw.org•Adult gamers of Lemmy how do you find time to game without being exhausted of the screen?1·1 month agoI play pretty much exclusively on handheld these day. The last thing I want to do after a long day working, is to sit at my desk some more.
I have a Switch and a Steamdeck, both are fantastic for different purposes, and both let me game while relaxing on the sofa or anywhere else.
I usually bring one of then when I travel for work as well, great for killing time in airports or while flying. I’d highly recommend the Steamdeck for your situation - it’s definitely worth it.
Monkyhandsto Nintendo@lemmy.world•Trump’s Tariffs Are Here to Jack Up the Price of Your Switch 2 (and Everything Else)English7·1 month agoAwfully optimistic of you to assume he will be gone in 4 years…
There is nothing magical about a 7 day week that means you have to fit your programming to it.
I do a kind of modified PPL, effectively PLPL, because strong legs is a priority to me. So it’s a 4 day split. I usually train 6 days a week, but sometimes 5, sometimes 7.
So in a given week I may hit my glutes and hamstrings once, but back twice. Next week would be opposite. Over the course of a month or longer, it evens out, and I get plenty of frequency in for each body part.
Men 19 etagers trapper sætter åbenbart fødsel i gang!
I have been on a nostalgia kick, listening to mostly 90s punk. Turns out a lot of songs written during the Bush era feel highly relevant now (ex NOFX, Bad Religion, Rancid, Social Distortion, Dropkick Murphy’s, Choking Victim, among others).
This also lead me to looking into other related bands that I didn’t listen to before. Currently I am really enjoying discovering the back catalogue and new releases of both Rise Against and Propagandhi.
Monkyhandsto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are old people usually attracted to other old people?10·2 months agoI am in a long term relationship, so I’m not walking around looking for options. However, I am in my mid-forties, and I genuinely find people (of any gender) around my own age the most attractive, including on a purely physical level.
Anyone younger than mid-thirties or so just look like children (not literally, but it’s the best analogy I can think of). I don’t find them physically appealing. I obviously cannot say if this will continue to be the case as I get older, but as of right now, it’s true.
Monkyhandsto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People outside the US, do you still consider America a democracy?111·2 months agoNo. I agree with the comment about the electoral system and gerrymandering as fundamental issues. And the current administration does not respect the judiciary branch, that much is clear, and their actions are completely undermining the supposed divisions of power, without which there is no democracy.
Obviously, don’t try to do much at once :) But as a woman in your forties, resistance training is highly recommended! It’s a great way to ensure functional fitness, and it’s the best protection against developing osteoporosis as we head into peri-menopause and beyond.
So, if you are able to add that in, it will definitely be worthwhile.
Congrats! This is awesome. As someone who was in this place a few years back, I can honestly say that your future self will thank you for sticking with this.
About 5 years ago, I started working out consistently, and it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself in a really long time. Once it became a habit, I missed working out if I couldn’t make it for a few days. I crave it now. I am in my mid-forties now, but I’m fitter than I was for most of my thirties, and I have more energy for things.
So great job for getting active again, and stick with it! You will be so happy you did.

Greenland is semi-autonomous, but currently still definitely part of Denmark. Article 5 would apply to an invasion here, if Denmark should choose to invoke it.
