Jramskovto Technology@lemmy.world•Massive explosion rocks SpaceX Texas facility, Starship engine in flamesEnglish8·11 months agoMaking space exploration 1000x cheaper basically. Not kidding, that’s roughly the goal I believe. That’s needed to make it possible to send enough stuff and people to Mars to make us a multi planetary species. It’s a completely crazy goal/idea, but that’s actually been the goal of SpaceX from the start. Getting Starship to work seems incredibly difficult and almost impossible, but so did landing a big booster rocket on a drone ship and today they do that so often it’s almost become boring.
Jramskovto Technology@lemmy.world•Massive explosion rocks SpaceX Texas facility, Starship engine in flamesEnglish424·11 months agoAs another commenter stated, this explosion is not at “Starbase” where they launch starship. It’s unlikely to have any impact on the launch schedule for Starship. They tested an engine on a test stand and it failed. They will likely learn something from it.
Jramskovto Technology@lemmy.world•Tesla is reportedly laying off ‘more than 10 percent’ of its workforceEnglish1·1 year agoI believe the last paragraph is wrong. The +3 million cars BYD made includes fossil cars. I believe they made around 1.6 million BEV’s. They also did make more BEV’s than Tesla in Q4, so it would not be surprising if BYD makes more than Tesla in 2024.

Jramskovto Fuck Cars@lemmy.ml•EVs are booming but electric bikes are really cutting emissions381·1 year agoElectric bikes have become really popular and common here in Denmark. I only have around 5km to work, so no need for an electric one, but if I had perhaps 20km to work, I’d buy an electric bicycle instantly.

Måske…DR har fået den mærkelige ide at de skal gøre deres public service materiale mere besværligt at tilgå 😞 (Podcasts kan kun lyttes til i deres app)

There’s clearly something less than optimal about having these huge gatekeepers (as I believe is the term used) and the EU is trying to limit their power.
Jramskovto Technology@lemmy.world•European crash tester says carmakers must bring back physical controlsEnglish1·1 year agoI can of course only speak for myself and what I have experienced with others in our TM3. When we (my wife and I) got it 5 years ago, neither of us had ever driven a TM3 before. We had a Ford C-max before. My wife got the honour of driving it home from the delivery center and I of course drove it a bit later. Quite a few friends and family tried it in the weeks after. I don’t recall anyone finding it cumbersome or hard to drive.
I do find it stupid that Tesla had removed the stalks on the refreshed TM3 and I welcome the Euro NCAP changes, that will likely have an effect.

Jramskovto Technology@lemmy.world•European crash tester says carmakers must bring back physical controlsEnglish1·1 year agoI’d like a couple more physical controls, but I think you’re making it sound worse than it really is. I also don’t think the issue only is touch screen vs physical controls. Modern cars are a lot more complex - they have a lot more features.
Jramskovto Technology@lemmy.world•European crash tester says carmakers must bring back physical controlsEnglish1·1 year agoWhat country is that?
Jramskovto Technology@lemmy.world•European crash tester says carmakers must bring back physical controlsEnglish2·1 year agoI’d be okay with it if the auto wiper function worked great, but they decided to drop the rain sensor and use the autopilot cameras for it instead and they simply haven’t been able to make it work.
Jramskovto Technology@lemmy.world•European crash tester says carmakers must bring back physical controlsEnglish2·1 year agoNope, there are alternative buttons, but I agree it’s not an improvement that they have removed the stalks.
Jramskovto Technology@lemmy.world•European crash tester says carmakers must bring back physical controlsEnglish16·1 year agoI think the title is a bit misleading. AFAIK, Euro NCAP have no authority to tell car makers anything, but they do indirectly affect how cars are developed because getting high Euro NCAP safety scores are important.
