Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Thursday that Malaysia will not bow to demands by China to stop its oil and gas exploration in the South China Sea as the activities are within the country’s waters.
To be clear, China isn’t mad about oil drilling, they are mad that somebody other than the CNOOC is getting the goods after discovering a 100 Million Ton Oil deposit.
China imports anywhere from 90% to 70% of local demand.
It’s such a bogus claim too. I could see them claiming around Hainan but the South China Sea is so far south I can’t see how they could even claim it.
China is doing its best to antagonize all of its neighbors.
Oh you’ll bow. Calling it now.
I love how Malaysia is simultaneously very rich in Chinese history and constantly giving China the finger.
I went to the Cameron Highlands once and a sweet old lady who owned a Chinese food shop there said she and her family left mainland China because they hated the government. Best chicken fried rice I’ve ever had in my entire life.
