I just got to work at 02:30, covering the second half of the graveyard shift. Pretty quiet night.

      Sorry about the disruption!

I used to live right across the street from a rowdy-ass bar. Ever since that time, I’ve slept with a loud air filter.

Wouldn’t be so bad if the hallway were properly sound deadened. But unfortunately even small sounds echo there. But yeah. Guess I’m less two hours of sleep today. Have a good day at work.

        I like the username.

      Lol. Thanks for the reminder.

I just went over to knock on some good old 1980’s government oak.

Right on. I had an employee on vacation and had to come in and watch the system. I’m normally 06:30-14:30. Gonna be a long afternoon…

My entire household is, and has been for quite a while. UTC+1. Last day of peace before regular work week resumes, during which I expect a myriad of back and forth between me, my manager, as well as HR, over the resignation letter I sent on Friday. I’m enjoying the silence while I can.

Ok this is now splitting my brain too many ways.

It isn’t Sunday night there, is it? It’s Monday morning at UTC-9. Shouldn’t it be Monday afternoon there?

Oh. Wait. You have Easter Monday off, don’t you? I think I get it.

Sorry. I’ve been up since 00:30.

Monday off, yes. The way to remember it is that the sun rises in yhe east, so anything east of you is ahead when it comes to time of day.

Considering the two other options, I really like it. I like going home in daylight during the winter, and I like sleeping at night.

Not a whole lot. Made it through the dark hours without any trouble. Now we’ll see how long I can zombie my way through my normal work hours 😵‍💫

Work in my opinion shouldn’t make it a habit of doing this to people. Sleep is the most important factor to health and shouldn’t be sacrificed in the name of work availability if it doesn’t have to be, a lack of sleep is even cited as the root cause of several major disasters such as Chernobyl and the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill. Anyone who values health and order would be advised to quit.

I know. We actually don’t (can’t) force OT. Strictly voluntary, with a 12-hour maximum.

Unfortunately (on this topic) I’m the acting Supervisor, so it kinda sorta falls in my lap when everyone says no. I don’t actually have to do it, but if I don’t, then there would be fairly major reporting problems with the state, not to mention public safety issues, and that would be more trouble than adjusting my schedule every once in a while.

We’re, like almost all city positions, critically understaffed. Hiring is slow, but hopefully we get a new crop of people to train in the next several months.
