As in, AGB’s hands-off moderation, “use the upvote and downvote system to curate content, don’t bother the mods” principle. I don’t like the extreme censorship in the main LGBT subreddits but AGB became extremely low quality when banned sub refugees arrived and the mods continued to use this approach. I’m assuming the admin here is going to promote this instance and make this community active at some point.

Now that you mention it, the most cancerous posters on r/AGB almost always have post histories on porn subs only, so by not having porn on the instance, these users will exclude themselves. Problem solved!

Though I wonder how many other gay and bi men will choose to migrate to Lemmy. I rarely see gay guys who are interested in tech and privacy so the odds are that they will just keep using Reddit no matter how bad it gets. So it’s likely that this community won’t become active enough to attract trolls and spammers.

I think it really depends on the generation; the older generation in general isn’t very tech-savvy. But I know quite a lot of tech-savvy gay and bi young adults.
