Well, this could be Lemmy’s chance. But it will need to be easier for ex-Reddit users to sign up. I know that Lemmy instances have been brigaded, so I guess better moderation tools will need to be created before open registrations happen.
Self-hosting Lemmy was pretty easy, and federation works well. Many little things can be improved but at least user-facing the big systems work. Moderation might be more difficult, as always with social media…

I agree, it wasn’t bad. Most tech folks won’t struggle. There are some rough edges that could be improved though.
