It might be specific to beehaw, but i think it is intentional. If I remember right, I think beehaw recently updated to stop federation of images from other servers because it was forcing the admins to moderate CP/SA images coming from other, less-moderated/higher-volume servers. I don’t blame them for doing everything they can to avoid seeing those images, and it doesn’t make a big difference in my lemmy experience.
