Perhaps I’m misunderstanding your timing but to be sure:
One important thing: your stomach acids absolutely destroy Ritalin I learned from my neurologist.
Never ever take them on empty stomach, even if it’s only half a slice of bread.
@Scipitie
Oh thank you for this! I’ll be sure to make sure that my Ritalin is with food. It almost always is
I would bank on the mecfs before the adhd. Unless it’s an emotional crash rather than an energy crash. If it’s just body and mental fatigue, I’d bank on thr mecfs. If it’s more emotional in nature (which can still be accompanied by the other things) I would think it’s related to the adhd medication wearing off. You could probably look at an extend release or different medication altogether.
@JigglySackles
that’s fair. it’s more of an energy crash, but it’s like I daze out at the same time. I don’t know how to describe it, but it’s like my brain just slows down a lot after I’ve eaten lunch, even if it was just a drink, even if it was substantial. I’m already on extended release, probably going to end up on another medication since the afternoon instant release isn’t working very well anymore. after the crash for a few hours after lunch I’m just all over the place doing a bunch of stuff but getting nothing done lolI don’t know if it will help you since it’s stimulant based(ritalin isn’t from what i recall, someone correct me if I’m wrong here), but I’ve had pretty good luck with vyvanse. I haven’t been on ritalin yet, just Adderall and the xr varient, and both led to me having the worst experience when they wore off.
@JigglySackles
It might, it might not, I’m kind of reliant on my psychiatrist to recommend medicine he thinks will work. I’m already on so many medicines it’s hard to deal with adding new ones.I fully understand that! When I was first trying to get things under control, I went through a lot of different meds. They had me all kinds of fucked up. I felt like a different person every month for probably 8 months. The final straw was a panic attack where I thought I’d hurt my kids or myself. I didn’t try anything for a couple years. Finally went back after my condition was too problematic to ignore. I found something that worked (first try thankfully) but wasn’t trying to do more than one mood/brain altering drug this go around. Once that got dialed in and knew what to expect, then I worked on the adhd. Doing two at once was just way too confusing and made me even more of a mental case.
Keep in mind if your psychiatrist isn’t working out, you can get a different one. There is a bit of roulette in finding the right medication. But sometimes the psychiatrist will matter as well.
I hope you find a solution that works for you though.
@JigglySackles
My psychiatrist is fine. I’ve been in treatment for over 10 years at this clinic, and ADHD was only started to be treated 3~ years ago. I have so many medications because I’m very much disabled and chronically ill in many ways, and I don’t get the option to go “I’m going to stop taking everything for a while and then add things back in slowly” because I would die. I’m currently trialing adding a second antidepressant to see if it will help (so far no mood altering effects, probably no real effects at all yet despite dose increases). It’ll be figured out, I was mainly trying to figure out if I should be tackling mecfs or adhd.Damn, that sucks. Definitely makes finding a good solution difficult. But sounds like you know what you are doing better than I would. Sorry for assuming this might have been a new experience for you.
But on the original subject I would suspect the adhd before the mecfs as the issues sound similar to what I’ve experienced though not exactly the same. I am especially familiar with doing a bunch of little things but getting nothing done. When I have too high a dose I can get like that.
@JigglySackles
Oh, I read that wrong. Ritalin is a stimulant, yes.
