    • Brush: Summer Break Soaps - Ord w/ TnS Quartermoon Synthetic
    • Razor: Blackland - Blackbird
    • Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
    • Lather: Fanzine Saponifications - This is Not a Test - Soap
    • Post Shave: Catie’s Bubbles - Sunset - Aftershave
    • Fragrance: Catie’s Bubbles - Verdigris - EdP

Glad to finally use this soap. u/TheStallionPartThree told me awhile back that he was gonna take on Big Soap and I’m very happy to see it came to fruition and able to support him. A super slick and easy base to work with. The scent and improvement show compared to Testing… Testing… and had a great shave. I wish you good fun and success in your new endeavor!

    September 2, 2025

    • Brush: Brad Sears Scotsman XL 28mm Super Badger
    • Razor: ERN 6/8 French Point Full Hollow
    • Lather: The Cajun Blade - Lumberjack Luxury - Soap
    • Toner: Thayers - Coconut - Toner
    • Aftershave: The Cajun Blade - Lumberjack Luxury Aftersauce - Aftershave

3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Another test of an Olympus edge. This time it was on this ERN razor. Same result as yesterday. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite edges.

Second use of Lumberjack Luxury. Actually a bit of a slightly sweet tobacco and oud scent overall. Mild/medium scent strength. There’s bourbon and musk to balance things out. I definitely like this one; especially as we move into cooler weather.

    02.09.2025

    • Brush: TGS Galaxy 26 mm
    • Razor: RazoRock Cyber Medium w/ Superknurl handle
    • Blade: Personna Super
    • Lather: A&E - Peach & Cognac
    • Post-Shave: OAM - oli del benessere, sensitive skin toner
    • Passes & Info: single pass head shave only. Nice and smooth, but the blade slowly loses its edge.

Just a quick shave before bed. I had a bad mood, so Peaches & Cognac to help lift my spirits. Always get a good lather, surprisingly always without any frag burn as - like every other A&E soap - the scent strength is enormous with this one.

Day two as an RN and it was seriously bad. The onboarding process is so disorganised at my workplace that it effectively didn’t happen today: I had my own side together with an assistant nurse and that’s it. See for yourself what you’ve got to do. Wonderful 🙄
At least by noon one of our higher-ups showed up to congratulate me on my successful exam, so I could give her the documents they still needed from me. Not much time for other talking though, as they also had a meeting for 13:30 scheduled. Fun times. 😮‍💨

    • Brush: Summer Break Soaps “Elyria” - TurnNShave v9 Tip 28mm Badger
    • Razor: J. Koester’s Sons 11/16", full hollow, square point (1)
    • Lather: Fanzine Saponifications - Caravaggio - Soap
    • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Rambler - Recovery Splash
    • Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented - Balm
    • Fragrance: Chanel - Égoïste - EdT

This was my first shave with this straight, which I found in Nesika Beach, Oregon at an estate sale for $5 while on my recent bike tour. I just got it back in hand today after sending if off to @gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social for honing.

The only other straight razor that I’ve used is the Moarteen, and this thing is significantly smaller and more nimble. It gave me great results from a three-pass shave, with only one small slice on my jawline from not minding the toe.

Overall I’m happy with the edge and looking forward to spending more time with this razor.

    Caravaggio++

    Day 2/30 of Side-by-Side Straightember

    • Brush: Zenith r/Wetshaving exclusive MOAR BADGER (Silvertip)
    • Razor: Böker – Abalone (6/8", full hollow, carbon steel, French point) 2 mystery marks
    • Lather: Stirling Soap Company – I, Rich Moose (sub-exclusive sheep tallow)
    • Post Shave: Sir – Irisch Moos
    • Fragrance: Sir – Irisch Moos

Ok, this might not be as tricky as I thought. I think that I can feel a difference between the two edges and this blade with 2 mystery marks is a tad harsher than its sibling. Both edges are delightful, but ATG this edge didn’t glide through the stubble as smoothly.

Now, I’m keeping an open mind because I also used this edge without stropping. For the next two shaves, I’ll repeat the same scenario but with stropping.

In order to avoid confirmation bias, I might start randomly (and blindly) choosing the blade each day and only check which I’ve used after the SOTD post has been written.

    Fun times 🤡 👨‍🔬

    What’s this about?

Do a week with potential confirmation bias, then a week random as you suggested and then a week with the mark covered so you don’t know which is which (but know which you used)… That should avoid confirmation bias, and let you know which you actually prefer
