The “Democratic” Party hasn’t had a real Primary for POTUS since 2008, maybe earlier.
2012? Obama was still in.
2016? “Superdelegates” were just party insiders explicitly allowed to put their thumb on the scale in the name of party loyalty. They used this to favor Hillary Clinton, a Goldwater-Girl who addressed the Senate in the mid 1990s and push for gun control by calling Black Children in Chicago “super-predators”.
2020? That primary was operation unite-against-the-popular-candidate.
2024? No Primary. Joe Biden would go on to have cancer, Kamala had a joke of a campaign, and both of those candidates cosigned a deeply unpopular genocide so hard that it was bipartisan.
We saw astroturfed “no kings” protests come and go.
Now, with Mamdani looming large over the political scene, I see Democrats rushing to pretend their party name isn’t just as ironic as another Conservative bill.
They will teach an entire Generation of their prospective political base that electoral political change is impossible.
0% considering how many Dems have been coordinating with Trump & Co to get his agenda passed. Even if Republicans ‘lose’ this time it’s all just a big scripted fantasy like Wrestlemania. We’ll still all lose either way as long as these two private organizations call all the shots.
In my view, even voicing genuine doubt about the validity of elections undermines the very democratic institutions people claim to care about. It feeds into the same narrative that Trump and others have pushed, casting suspicion on the process and eroding public trust. Whether intentional or not, it ends up doing their work for them.
What are the chances we’ll have an actual election in 2028? 50/50 seems optimistic.
We’ll have an “election”. The results will not be democratic.
Which problem are we talking about?
Trump? Yeah…

It kinda depends on when Trump dies. I doubt any fascists succeeding him can hold onto the support of both oligarchs and grassroots. Even

Between this and the press egging him on, it’s like everything is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
It’s like if reporters kept asking “are you gonna punch that baby?” It may have not been a consideration before, but it’s definitely one now.
