What percentage of people today do you think even know what the Kent state massacre was?

People seem so fucking incurious it’s aggravating.

The first “Super Group” Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; released a song named Ohio that got big time air play at the time and still does today, regarding the Kent shooting.

        https://youtu.be/l1PrUU2S_iw

It was wild being from that area and talking to people who protested that day and hearing their stories

Yeah I grew up a couple states over and my Dad was protesting at a similar sized college back then.

He got tear gassed and beat up too, and he always said if I was in a protest to bring a video camera and pretend to be Press.

But now that they’re shooting obvious journalists, I don’t think that would work.

TL;dr: Students from Kent State were protesting against Nixon expanding the Vietnam war into Cambodia, other people from Kent got involved and somewhat violent in town, resulting in national guard deployment. may 4th, students gathered for a scheduled peaceful protest, army showed up to disperse them and they chased each other until the army, with no warning, turned and fired on the protestors.

            https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_Hat_Riot.
And then a few days later, hundreds of students and teachers protested this event in NYC.
Thousands of workers in the area then attacked the protestors and rioted throughout the city in retaliation.
The police formed a barrier to prevent the workers from reaching the students, but when this was breached, they gave up and allowed the rioters to attack the students/teachers.

The mayor called out the police for not attempting to stop the violent workers, and three days later the workers began their own protests against the ‘commie’ mayor.

The president later appointed the main guy leading these counter protests as his labor secretary.

            Just typical american shit.

To clarify, it’s not one’s fault for not knowing something. None of us know everything. What’s aggravating is the lack of curiosity.
