On 14 October, #Microsoft will end support for #Win10.

This will turn hundreds of millions of computers that cannot upgrade to #Win11 into security risks and #eWaste.

Yours may be one of them!

Basically Google sits on so much browser market share that they decided to push a change through that’d benefit their business model which is ads and that means making adblocker extensions worse as @Kannushi_Link@lemmy.world points out. It’s going to affect many other extensions, I imagine userscripts and userstyles will also be affected - if you use a Chromium browser.

The consequences of v2 ending is that you should use a non-Chromium-based browser, like Firefox or one of it’s forks.

            Same.

It’s also likely that Google will use/require manifest v3 to access some of their services (like YouTube) in order to more strictly apply DRM and prevent adblockers/third party players. That hasn’t happened yet, but it’s the kind of enshittification that these companies like to do.

You can NOT use effective adblocker extensions with manifest v3, as it removed functions that they need (and impose some other limits to make them unable to update fast)
