Agreed. My own issue with voting is people vote to indicate agreement/disagreement and not for the quality/effort of the post, which was the original intent of up/down votes from what I understand.
In case anyone missed it, it will cost 1000 Community Points or, more importantly, $5/subreddit to basically get some sort of “subreddit premium” status. The $5 is for users who don’t accumulate 1000 CP’s per month to retain their subreddit-premium status.
Been on Reddit since 2011 while my main account is only 9 years old. Regardless, Lemmy is now my go-to except for smaller subreddits that haven’t fully migrated yet. That said, I’ve noticed more and more activity in those lemmy communities so I have high hopes the trend continues!
I’ve been on Reddit since 2011 and feel very bittersweet about all this. Reddit has changed drastically since I first joined so I already mourned the earlier days of Reddit but this really feels like the last naio in the coffin. On the other hand, I wouldn’t have discovered Lemmy without Reddit and I see so much potential here so that is the silver lining in all of this.
Who do you think pays when governments bail out large private corporations?
