You need to have a moderately high income to move anywhere with a good safety net. Moving somewhere without a safety net does not sound like a good idea for someone with disabilities like OP.

I think their decision was influenced by the most recent budget. With business costs rising due to the national insurance increase, banks are anticipating that inflation will fall less quickly, as costs could be passed on to consumers. This is compounded by government spending increasing which also has the potential to have an inflationary effect.
Given this background it is not inconceivable that BoE might need to raise interest rates again and this means the banks need to keep their fixed rates high to cover the risk of people locking in rates that turn out to be too low.
Gameboy color dinosaur JRPG / metroidvania that seemingly no one else has ever played. Called Dinosaur’us. I had to google the name there and it turns out there is a wikipedia page so it’s not totally obscure - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinosaur’us
I loved this game as a kid! There are surprisingly few good dinosaur games (although admittedly a lot of good dragon ones).
Edit: only ever released in the UK - that explains a lot of why it was so obscure. The ROM is on emulator sites though if you are curious.
Yeah I remember being 15 and I was a little shit. Kids aren’t people yet.
You put more effort into this post than M$ did to their product
They get all the patches and minor upgrades in a timely fashion, similar to other distros. The major version updates do not come as readily though.
Do Facebook have a streaming service now?
Nice write-up btw
PS3 is probably the last gen to support a lot of local coop games
Have got Debian on an old thinkpad too because it is too under resourced to compile everything. I think Debian is amazing for a solid, reliable distro if you have weak hardware.
I use Gentoo and I love it. The installation process is a bit more complex than Arch but it doesn’t have to be if you choose the precompiled kernel.
The package management is extremely flexible and the community are great. I have a morning routine where I log onto my gentoo desktop before work and update everything; would compare it to raking one of those miniature buddhist sand gardens. Very theraputic!
Yeah pretty much agree, would just say “drugs” as a catch-all here.
Had to scroll quite far down to find a non-wholesome answer! Everyone else is enjoying being a parent or whatever.
There’s a theory that the boneless person who is just skin, with a pained expression on his face, in the Sistine Chapel is a self-portrait of Michaelangelo. He painted it under extremely challenging circumstances at one point the Pope beat him with a switch because it was taking too long in his opinion.
I think he’s just good at self-promotion through coming out with these provocative - and completely arbitrary - takes to stay in the media.
I guess a silver lining here is that he must be good at negotiating if he managed to free that monster.
31, assume the same
I’m also from the UK but from what I could tell at least Pete has some personality. Kamala ran as the establishment manifested in human form, clumsily avoiding questions or policy details in media appearances. She was polling at 4% of popularity amongst democrat voters during the 2020 primaries. I think those factors were more influential than her being a woman,
I think Pete Butigeg would have been a stronger candidate.
Kamala’s personality of being a “career politician” combined with her being somewhat clumsy in interviews and public appearances was more of an issue than their policy platform imo. She was like the establishment manifested in an individual.
The Trump phenomena - both times - reminds me of the Brexit vote here in the UK where people didn’t care how crazy or self-damaging the alternative option was due to their visceral hatred of the establishment and elites.
I would be more concerned if he were less stupid. Going by his last presidency he’ll spend half his time golfing and the rest driving through ineffective “red meat” policies to get attention from his base. Ultimately he’s just a pathetic man who craves attention.
What concerns me more is that his destruction of political norms means that someone who is similarly evil - but actually capable - might be able to use him as a template to take power in the future and make America into a dictatorship. Someone like Xi Jinping as opposed to an aging B-list celebrity.
It sounded like OP wanted practical advice instead of sympathy. In practice you need to make your own luck by playing the hand you get dealt in life. There are many things you can’t control and dwelling on them is almost never productive.
