This started happening with another community. After looking there is an open issue on GitHub. Looks like it is impacting smaller servers more than larger ones?

I think I got rate limited when I used a python script to migrate my subscriptions (some 503 errors) but most of them came through. My new account still gets this post from a year ago (https://feddit.uk/post/321952) as my 4th hot post. Along with a number of 1 year+ old posts below. However, after looking into it looks like they are all from Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml. Going back to my original account, which has my full subscriptions, again they seem to be from some specific communities:

Stranger and stranger… these are my “hots”. They start off okay, and then quickly they are a year+ old. Happens on all clients. I’m probably going to create a new username/account and see if it’s the same. Maybe something has got stale with this one. Besides, I don’t like my username anymore! :)

@tom@feddit.uk Hey Tom. This issue is persisting for me. I get the odd post that I would consider hot, but in general the posts are days, weeks or in a couple of cases YEARS old! I have accounts on two other instances with similar subscriptions to those I have here:

lemmy.world doesn’t have this issue (although it has many other issues and is generally unusable, I think due to load). They are on UI: 0.18.1-rc.7

programming.dev is also on BE: 0.18.0 and seems fine. No issues with hot posts. They have about twice the number of users/posts as feddit.uk.

Only read posts. I don’t want to necessarily hide read posts. If it’s interesting I want to keep coming back to it. Also if it’s a junk, offensive, triggering, spammy repost I don’t want to have to “read” it to make it go away.

Indeed. And that’s not even taking account those discs are much harder to get a hold of and/or more expensive than the Gameboy Player itself!

Oh absolutely! That’s the killer app for the Gameboy Player IMHO. Properly felt like a return to the SNES days of 2D platforming, but with improved tech and quality of life. Love it.

Lol. I’ve only been following this from a distance because I don’t have any real interest in Birdsite anymore, but hadn’t appreciated that they themselves may have caused the increase in API requests that cause them to introduce rate limits. That’s hilarious.

Big shout out to the Gameboy Player add-on for the GameCube, and the equally brilliant Game Boy Interface which vastly improves the video quality.

The Mastodon instance I’m on has blocked all known Meta IPs as a preventative measure. So I imagine some admins will federate and some won’t, and users will be free to join the instance that they wish to.

So, you’re not wrong. Although I did enjoy Stranded. But I’m a sucker for the 8th Doc adventures. I used to buy the CDs religiously when they first came out for the first 5 or 6 years, but I never got into the box sets much. I get the odd one now, but not as much as when the monthly series was on the go. I much prefer the boxes with 3 stories in, rather than the ones with one big story and one short one. The 8th, 9th and 10th in particular are my favourites. That said, I did enjoy the 3rd Doc one with Tim Treloar and Daisy Ashford as Liz Shaw.

Looks like this issue has returned, at least for me. And even worse! I’m now getting 2 year old post appearing as my top “hots”.

My old neighbour tells me that the person who moved into our previous house has been known to chase neighbours down the street to insist they come in for a cup of tea. So I think there is a line here where it can become socially awkward.

Thanks Tom. I think Lemmy’s “hot” sorting is still bums, but that’s not feddit.uk’s fault. I posit that posts with no comments should not be considered “hot”!

Not being updated to 0.18.0 is fine though. Lemmy.world is still on 0.17.4, as are many others. 0.18.0 doesn’t have Captcha which had to be enabled on feddit.uk last week due to a flooding of bot registrations. Apparently it’s retuning in 0.18.1.

However, sadly I’m finding it unusable right now with the sorting, so I’m mostly on lemmy.world ☹️

Yeah, I’d say either repro (because it’s not an official Nintendo manufactured cart/ or a homebrew cart.

I reckon something is just broken (at least for me). This post about lettuce has been my top hot post for days both on the web and via two different apps…

I think you’re right, but the fact that lemmy.world appears to work and is also on 0.17.4, may imply an additional issue (although I appreciate the problem not occuring there may simply be because it’s not 100% reproducible).

Tusky is my current preference, but have tried Megalodon, Mastodon and Fedilab. I couldn’t get with Fedilab, the font sizes in particular were never right.
