This looks like those things passive-agressive German campers use for ordinary campsites when parked on a moved lawn near the ice cream shop

kwr112233to United Kingdom@feddit.uk•UK police chiefs call for ban on social media for under-16sEnglish4·7 days agoThere are lots of great ways to moderate and balance freedom and privacy. Also for young people. For-profit companies failed at it.
Ban algorithms, make data-collection default opt-out, disallow attention-for-ads business model. Or just close it all.
kwr112233to Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Shifting gears: How do we shift people from private cars to walking and cycling?English2·13 days agoHow far is in miles or kilometers? It sounds very doable if infrastructure is not forcing you a long way around :)
In my dense Europen city, even regular bike is faster than cars if we are talking in the city.
kwr112233to Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Shifting gears: How do we shift people from private cars to walking and cycling?English6·13 days agoIn the cities, sure. Outside the cities i think e-biks help a lot. 5 kilometers is fine on regular bike, maybe even 10 - but more that that is a lot easier on e-bike.
And i saw some research and how most trips are actually really short (where i live at least).
Also people have become way too unhealthy so just getting started, with all the sweating and exhaustion and wind is a barrier. Self-imposed, but still a barrier.
But i don’t get why none of those showed up in any feeds if they exist. I am very far left of centre (by american standards) you’d think some of the people i follow would share - or non-us media would.
But this is not that thread.
This is the thank-you-thread :)
My feelings in all this:
Why are Americans not protesting. Are they stupid?
Then
Okay, at least some are really not cool with this.
Then
Oh wait, those Americans not being cool with this must feel really damn bad.
So here’s one European saying thank you for your protests. You are not alone.
Sure it should og course be legal to provide information, but banning ads is fine by me!
Sure, but pure cocaine is also worth more than the diluted b2c products.
Or in seriousness, companies do care about return on advertising spend. I sure as shit aint buying any of the weird dutch stuff youtube is trying to sell me (have a VPN through NL for some odd reason - came with vivaldi browser)
kwr112233to Europe@feddit.org•Europe needs its own social media platforms to safeguard sovereigntyEnglish5·14 days agoI love how media is always ‘Nooo we can’t ban facebook because it undermines democracy because this dog hairdresser club in the suburbs use it for member communication twice per year’
kwr112233to Europe@feddit.org•Europe needs its own social media platforms to safeguard sovereigntyEnglish211·14 days agoWhy do we need social media? Can’t we just not have social media?
I know a lot of people are dependant on them now, but substitutes for the really important bits already exists :)

kwr112233to World News@lemmy.world•‘Danish Viking blood is boiling.’ Danes boycott US goods with fervor as others in Europe do so tooEnglish5·16 days agoI get you’re economically shackled already, but I just don’t believe the ‘too big/diverse to strike’-argument.
It just needs to start somewhere. And it probably evetually will now your president really fucked us all over.
kwr112233to World News@lemmy.world•‘Danish Viking blood is boiling.’ Danes boycott US goods with fervor as others in Europe do so tooEnglish41·16 days agoI wouldn’t not protest to save the economy now, since that is out the window.
I don’t know if occupy accomplished anything, but the George Floyd protests were massive.
Americans can protest. I just don’t get the late stage capitalism stockholm syndrome.

kwr112233to Privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Mozilla's new open-source Gmail alternative puts your privacy first41·16 days agoWhoah there, buddy. Easy on the misinterpretations.
My point is that taking action is most likely to occur when there is a strong, present motivation. Not just for email provider choices, for everything.
kwr112233to Privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Mozilla's new open-source Gmail alternative puts your privacy first319·16 days agoI KNOW privacy is important. But switching something you already use out needs to be exciting.
To be honest, switching for privacy feels like a chore.

But could you all please like do a general strike, or lock down cities by protesting this shit?
Just read 34% fewer visits from Denmark YoY - thanks for taking a stand!
