  • The “pre approved candidates” thing is a problem with first past the post voting and not inherently a part of democracy. Alternative voting systems make it mathematically possible for any random person to win and thus buying out every possible candidate is untenable. Check out ranked voting and see if there are any movements near you to change the voting systems you use.

  • Actual advice for anyone seeing and wanting guidance:

If you’re waiting for a day when every citizen says to themselves “enough is enough” and then stands up and walks outside to start the revolution, without communicating with each other, that’s never going to happen.

If you want a revolution, you need to be organized. That means joining an organization and being ready for the call when it happens. So if you want a revolution, I urge you, please join a group. Do your best to join one that emphasizes mechanical action, but join one. Even if it’s small, these groups find each other and coordinating a bunch of small organizations is way easier and more feasible than a multitude of individuals.

I also want to emphasize that joining the group doesn’t necessarily mean “giving a bunch of time and resources to the group”. Many groups are happy to just have you contactable so they can keep you informed of actions and group initiatives (voting or otherwise).

I’ve got recommended groups if people want them, just ask. But please, join one and start building the revolution now.

  • Millie Bobby Brown actually has (or had) this going on due to her filming Stranger Things during formative years. It’s really fascinating to listen to this weird halfway point between the two. You can hear it well here: https://youtu.be/xhjooxtYf9Q?t=50

A particularly interesting point is around ~1:10 where she’s been largely using her American accent, but she uses the word after, but instead of starting the word with the TRAP vowel we would expect, she uses the BATH vowel instead owing to her original British accent. But I think what’s even more interesting is that when she does this, it doesn’t sound like she swapped back to her British accent for a single word - it sounds much more like someone with a general American accent doing an impression of a British person saying the word after!

  • I will never entertain the argument of the person you replied to and your post is exactly why. The originally story being divided into three pieces, is in itself not an actual problem. It could potentially cause other problems, but whether or not it actually does is completely separate.

Remake took me 80 hours to complete (to my non-completionist satisfaction) and had a clear and satisfying beginning middle and end. On this front, I don’t know what you could realistically complain about.
