I’m not trying to be a smartass, I’m just that desperate that I’m hoping to find out you don’t need to.

Did you read the Wikipedia article? I grant that isolation is inherently traumatic, but by itself, it pales in comparison to what that person went through.

What if you want ease on a terminal?

In a professional context, you might end up on servers that don’t have nano installed, but do have vi. Or if you’re helping out a friend on their laptop, they might not have the same software as you. Or if you often end up tinkering with random devices and/or setting up new systems it might be tedious to install the same applications every time.

It’s basically an argument for learning the very basics of the most common editors so you have flexibility no matter where you end up. Even when you have the ability to download and install your preferred software, it’s still an extra step that might not be desirable for a variety of reasons. But if it’s just your own personal device, I see no problem with just installing whatever you prefer and running with it.

EDIT: Personally, I find that I don’t end up using those other editors often enough to remember the abstruse commands of tools like vim, so I’m not worried about it. When it does happen, 99% of the time I can just whip out a smartphone and look up the directions for the n-dozenth time.

Just from the overview of that wikipedia page, it’s clear she has been subjected to a horrific amount of abuse and emotional turmoil, both as a child and later as an adult. It seems extremely dubious whether you can really draw any general conclusions from such an extreme case study.

Accuracy aside, I would love to see someone take this idea and turn it into a parody/remake from their perspective in the style of “Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle”.

The phrasing is a reference to the “Is this a pigeon?” meme (see: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/is-this-a-pigeon ). This is meant to indicate that this is clearly not egg_irl, but the topic of the original post seemed like something repressed trans people can relate to in hindsight. It reminded me of a common pattern among eggs where there’s a vague but insistent internal voice (not literally a voice, more like an occasional impulse) telling you to do things that you associate with your actual gender, rather than your assigned gender, with varying effects depending on the person. For example, it generally made me feel uncomfortable without understanding why, leading me to assume I simply didn’t like those things, when in fact that was more or less the opposite of the truth.

Anyway, these sorts of things can make the idea of an unknown, voiceless, internal personality separate from your surface-level persona resonate with trans people. Add the fact that when you’re deeply involved in gender issues and transitioning, it’s so much on your mind that there’s a tendency to interpret everything as being somehow related to gender even when it isn’t, and it seemed like a good fit for the pigeon meme.

It’s basically meat sauce between burger buns. I haven’t had one in ages, but they would make frequent appearances in grade school cafeterias and other events involving large amounts of children needing to be fed with low effort. I remember quite liking them; it’s basic, but great comfort food, and easy to eat.

You don’t have to vote for Biden. In the primaries, vote for whoever you actually like. In the general, vote for the Democrats’ candidate (however flawed they may be). In neither case are you obligated to frame it as voting for Biden as an individual.

You can do all that without force push. Just make a new branch and do the cleanup before the first push there. Allowing force push just invites disaster from junior developers who don’t know what they’re doing. If you want to clean up after them, that’s your business, I guess.

Just recently I started replaying “VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action”. I’m also working on Rune Factory 4 Special - the remake is only 4 years old, but the original is from 2012. I still periodically fire up Castle Crashers from time to time, and I have yet to give up on my much-procrastinated attempt at Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (the Xbox 360 version).

There are many others, but that’s just off the top of my head.
