Oxygen is used to get energy from glucose/fat, so oxygen consumption is directly related to calorie burn. One nice way to think of it is that carbon atoms, the main atom in food, leaves our body by o2 (oxygen) going in and co2 (carbon monoxide) going out, not via pee/poop as many people might think, so heavier breathing during exercise to get more oxygen in is also an indication of more carbon out/calories burned.

First try they came out very liquid, so I’m going to add a bit more pectine next time. I replaced 10 ml water with lemon juice and the taste is just slightly lemony sugar, so a bit more wouldn’t hurt I guess. But the recipe was easy and we’ll see how fast I go this weekend!

Wait, people copied birthdays over each year? We just had one normal yearly calendar and one special birthday calendar that could be used for multiple years. I have recently moved to france and have been learning french for the last few years (long before moving). I still have difficulty with lunch conversation and after speaking to everyone outside of work in french I appreciate it so much that I work at an international place where everyone speaks english, even though that is also a second language for me. Imagine how tired your colleagues are at lunch after not speaking their own language anywhere but at home and appreciate that you are capable of helping them a little bit by speaking english.

In the three countries I worked in (netherlands, belgium and usa) all level 2 lab waste was collected in biohazard boxes and taken to special lab waste management. I assume they get the same treatment as hospital waste. We did have the non-biohazard labs in which pipettes just went in the normal trash. I assume you can’t get a biohazard lab approved without organizing special waste pickup.

And we don’t throw pipette tips in the ocean, we throw them in the biohazard box. While not better for the environment, at least we don’t choke baby turtles.
