This seems super dumb to me.
It is. I mean, the article is pretty clear; these are the strategies bad readers use to get through text.

So let’s just look at that again. The bowling ball’s (mass m1) acceleration is GM/R². The feather’s is also GM/R². They have the exact same acceleration, which is g. I’m not sure where you’re getting that the bowling bowl accelerates slower. Meanwhile in the bowling ball’s case the Earth’s acceleration is higher, as you already said. This results in less free fall time overall.
Forget everything you know (or think you know) about the conflict for a second. Now look at what human rights groups, including the UN, have to say about what’s happening in Gaza and Lebanon. It’s called a genocide because it is; it’s really that simple and there are mountains of evidence published by the likes of Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and, again the UN. Also to dispell that particular piece of propaganda: they’re not trying to get the hostages back. If they were they’d turn the first ceasefire agreement into a “permanent” ceasefire (there are no permanent ceasefires in this conflict) and end the whole thing. They want to genocide and settle Gaza, so they’re doing that while sabotaging ceasefire negotiations.
By the way if you’re going to side with the side that has hostages, then you should read up on Palestinian detainees first. Long story short: Israel arrests Palestinians from the West Bank or (until 2005) Gaza for dubious or no charges—which they can do because these places are governed under Israeli military law rather than civil law—and sometimes torture them while stealing years of their life. Part of Palestinian resistance organizations’ raison d’etre is to return those people to their homes, which requires constant action because Israel arrests more Palestinians every day. There were already thousands of those detainees before October 7th and thousands more have been arrested after. Note: We’re not talking about Palestinians who are arrested for legitimate crimes doing their time here; these people were kidnapped as a punishment against Palestinians for existing. If this doesn’t sound like hostages to you, you should do some soul searching and ask yourself if you’re trying to learn or justify your beliefs.
This probably sounds biased to you, but I took care to only state verifiable, indisputably objective facts here Sometimes things are just that simple. That doesn’t make Hamas good guys; they’re more gray with some legitimate resistance actions and some straight up terrorism, and it’s not always clear which is which.
Finally, if you want to learn more about the conflict in general and about the conditions that drove Hamas to launch the October 7th attack to begin with, you should see what Amnesty International and other human rights groups have to say on the topic. The long story short is that Israel subjects Palestinians to Apartheid conditions along with a slow-burn genocide to serve their long-term goal of colonizing the whole Palestine and (to their more extremist factions) expand beyond it.
Mondoweiss isn’t unconditional pro-Palestine propaganda. It’s a well-sourced pro-Palestinian news site.
It does change the vector though. There’s no (well barely any) friction in space. In fact pushing the fridge with one finger rather than pushing the fridge will move and rotate the earth at incomprehensibly small velocity for a short time.
Uh… That’s not how that works. The distance between two objects changes with acceleration a1-a2 where object 1 moves with acceleration a1 and object 2 a2 (numbers interchangeable). In the bowling ball’s case a2 is the same but a1 is bigger in the negative direction so the result is that the bowling ball falls faster.
I’ll ask: What’s your plan when another Trump surfaces for years later? Will you still say vote blue no matter who? What about the four years after? Do you think the Democrats will listen to a constituency that will vote blue while they ignore them and refuse to even hold a primary?
That is plain copium. Every political scientist worth their salt has said American support is essential to the modern Israeli state. America has been bombing Yemen, defending Israel diplomatically from the wider world and their neighbors and giving them billions of dollars. All naturalization treaties between Israel and its neighbors wouldn’t have been possible or sustainable without American support.
I mean they’ve been ignoring their constituents and instead pandering to Republicans while supporting their pet country’s genocide even as it leads the Middle East closer to another large scale war. There’s only one answer at the end of the democrats’ right wing shift and that’s fascism.
again for that secret reason that I know that 99% of lemmings don’t know about, because as much as they like to come down and spin their wheels, most lemmings really don’t know fuck about shit about politics
So as someone who admittedly knows nothing about politics, are you gonna tell us that reason or not?
You have no idea how relatable this is. This community has gone feral these past two weeks.
The Palestinian American who likely lost or knows someone who lost family to Israel’s rampage is “fuckin dumb” while you’re a genius, got it.
The thing about voting for Harris is that if she wins while endorsing genocide it signals to the DNC that their constituents are either pushovers who can’t make demands of their elites or okay with genocide. There’s a very real argument that setting this precedent is going to be worse for America than four years of Trump with a Democrat Senate (assuming democrat voters don’t drop the ball on Senate elections) that’s doing opposition instead of cheering on the genocide. If the Dems know they can ignore their constituents and win, they’ll pander a lot more to Republicans and hasten the decay of American democracy.
Note: I say genocide because this is the most important issue to Muslim voters, but it could be immigration, the lack of a primary, or any other DNC nonsense this election cycle.
Me: Can’t wait for the Democrats to win the house so some semblance of progress can be made.
Republicans taking the Senate: Bonjour.
How does Israel’s economy come into play here? This is about Middle Eastern people boycotting a bunch of American franchises and other stuff in (sometimes misguided) solidarity with Gaza.
Take them with your queen until the heat death of the universe.
Okay I’ll just say: Y’all deserve Trump. Seriously. If this community is even remotely representative of politically active democrats then y’all had it coming. Why is it that when I’m representing a viewpoint that’s not considered here everyone’s kneejerk reaction is to dismiss that viewpoint and shoot the messenger? No matter how you feel about it the fact that there are people who think that and the fact that they have valid reasons for thinking that remains. Arguing with me about their opinions changes nothing, and neither does mocking them.
I mean it gets the customers status symbols and the manufacturers money. As long as those phones later end up on the used market it’s a win-win.
Close. It makes you a Hamas headquarters.
Me too. Haaretz’s reporting on this war and its effects on Israel has been pretty good so far but they’ve also matched Israeli propaganda a few times so this came out of left field for me. Anyone with more knowledge of Israeli internal affairs with any idea what’s going on here?
