Sure, just like literally everything comparing reality to the counter-factual this involves estimates. Not a particularly profound or useful observation.
I think you’re going to get yelled at and I apologize in advance.
It’s a fair question, there’s a lot of reckless claims made these days.
That being said, depending on how bad things get, yeah. Some incredibly populous places will be directly and heavily affected (1.21 billion currently in sub Saharan Africa alone.) Add in the conflicts over diminishing resources (think crop failures, droughts etc) as well as knock on effects (eg, increased range/spread of malaria.)
Heck, climate change has barely gotten started and I’d bet we’re into millions dead already (compared to a non warning world) consider how many thousands have been lost to extreme events like floods, fires and heat waves.
Ugh, that was probably awful. But on the other hand, their youtube probably wasn’t full of ads if they couldn’t afford premium! ;)
(Personally, as a lazy modern first worlder I have a feeling everything of mine would’ve just been filthy as an alternative to all the effort.)
Yeah, but nowadays we have to do the dishes. And then tomorrow, have to do the dishes AGAIN! So, pretty much the same.

Where we're going, we don't need profits!English2·4 days agoI imagine solvent banking institutions, retirement funds and the like are something that most people seriously need but barely think about. If the most valuable listed American company finds its value plummetting from 4 trillion to a few billion, there will be all sorts of fun and interesting revelations about the entire American financial system.
That being said, you are absolutely welcome to post your own memes which meet your specifications!

Thanks, we’re both pretty happy about it!

MyBrainHurts@piefed.cato Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Who does your favorite backhanded compliments that never fails to crack you up even if receiving it yourself personallyEnglish19·8 days agoI got one a few months ago that is my abslolute favourite, not sure if it counts. Important context, I’m 40 but still play soccer with folks as young as 20. So, one game I’m defending against a young fast kid and beat him to the ball (barely!) a few times in a row on long ball chases. After the third or fourth time he looks over after the race and says “You’re really fast for an… uhhh uh uh, you’re really fast!”
He meant so well and it was adorable watching him realize mid sentence that I probably didn’t want to be called an old man.
Sounds like the edited for tv version but for Republicans.

I definitely kept getting hurt because of the bro-ey “MORE WEIGHT MOTHERFUCKERS!” attitude, keen to try the opposite.
MyBrainHurts@piefed.caOPto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you aged out of playing sports? How did you handle it?English3·9 days agoYou’re fully right on the attitude. Part of why I love these teams is somehow we keep attracting just awesome groups of people so even though everyone plays their heart out, it’s still laughs and loves when we get ragdolled.
Interesting idea moving up to forward. I always joke about how scary that half of the field is but I’m not a terrible distributor and don’t mind just being bigger at people in the box…
I’ll definitely follow up with you at some point if you’re down. Right now, I’ve got to heal this dumb foot but then, yoga, the gym and maybe slowly transitioning to forward to get some practice there with friends before trying that on a new team.
Really appreciate the kind words and support!
This was an unexpectedly fascinating technical read. Admittedly, I’m “watching” baseball so take my definition of fascinating with a grain of salt.
