I placed my entire hand on a hot iron. For more than a few seconds - super dumb and ignorant.
Ended up having my entire hand wrapped in bamdages.

I discovered Planescape Torment a few years ago - I can see how it would be impactful to a younger me. Even now I can still remember the moment the Undying One gave his answer to Ravel’s infamous question against the backdrop of the Fortress of Regret’s OST playing gives me a chill
Singapore - Mother Tongue is a compulsory subject to take up until Uni. Being classified as Chinese racially, I had to take Mandarin during my formative years - but I’m still not good at it lol
Interesting - in Singapore the widespread expectation in 2025 (at least among the elderly) is to get a plastic bag / food containers (sometimes multiple) from the shop whenever one buys something. Albeit since 2020 these now cost 5 & 30 cents respectively
I’m not an expert, but you mention that you have job security - you could use that by allocating Friday as your unofficial self-learning / rest / low-work day, and block out the time on your work calendar if you can. It works better if the day is one where you can WFH
Singapore
I’m in the same boat; I no longer have any motivation to self study and pursue excellence in these skills - ‘AI’ has destroyed that. At least back when searching Google / Stackoverflow / reading Documentation was still a thing I saw the value in making my own notes so as to reduce the friction in recalling the concepts, but with AI it’s become trivially easy to get an answer to any question.
I’ve been distracting myself with learning other skills (i.e. how to drive, taking certifications, applying for Working Holiday Visas), but these are dead ends.
I’m still employed, but only a matter of time before I get laid off I think.
Or just fill it up with trees, bushes and flowers
If inflation is 3% per year, by the 25th year 1.03^25 = 2.09 ; everything costs double.
But yeah if it doubled within a few years something’s wrong.
How do you suppress FOMO though? Like logically what you said makes sense but it’s just hard to get your heart to agree
Singapore. Hot and Humid at 30C+ 24/7/365 - my neck frequently breaks out in rashes.
I don’t expect Singapore to be around within the next 50 years due to Climate Change tbh
Aww :)
