Uh… Yes! I think.
Uh… Yes! I think.
That lack of accountability, imho, comes from capitalism dictating what democracy can do, and not the other way around. In other countries, democracy limits what capitalism can do, so it’s more or less subordinate to it.
In the US, capitalism decides what democracy can do, so it’s actually democracy which is subordinated to capitalism.
Nonsense. The Cybertruck is absolutely trustworthy.
All you have to do is drive it on the roads, while it’s sunny, possibly not dusty. And avoid any amount of water. ANY.
They don’t care. After all, you know who’s paying those lawsuits? Yep, you guessed right: taxpayers. So every NYC citizen is going to pay for what these fuckwads did.
I think the right question is why no one is succeeding?
If they were ruled by capitalism, things like universal healthcare wouldn’t exist. Things are far from perfect in other countries, but there’s a huge leap between the US and other counties in terms of what capitalism is allowed to do in them.
And this is what people mean when they say the title is using the “cop tense”.
No. The problem is not just the university police, but how they deal with protests. First of all, a university having a police force is already crazy, but dealing with protesters with grenade launchers? Maybe America’s problem is not the protests but how they think they should deal with them, just saying.
Because if you tell me that the police need to arm themselves that much because citizens can be armed too and they need to counter those weapons then the problem is still weapons.
Yes, and the police force from the city, which by the way is not as militarized as the American one, deals with people without the university needing to buy weapons.
That’s exactly the amount of weapons universities in other countries buy. And apparently, they all work and deal with protests frequently.
What about the people who charge you for the train service and profit from it? Ain’t nobody thinking of the poor capitalist here?!
Because none of them are ruled by capitalism. Capitalism is their economic system, not their government system.
Do you really think the UC is the only university in the world having protests? Because you know… I’ve seen protests in so many other countries but none of them had a university buying a fucking grenade launcher to “pacify” them.
Manual to de-escalating potentially dangerous situations for an American policeman:
Whatever the threat is, grab your gun and open fire until you feel there is no more threat incoming.
Idk man, in a normal country, a police officer would be interrogated for drawing their gun in a fucking train station full of people. FOR DRAWING IT. But here we have a couple of “heroes” that open fire in a fucking train station against a guy who didn’t pay the ticket and apparently it’s all fine.
How is a private entity allowed to buy military grade weaponry to use against their students?
Oh right… 'Merica. You guys have a problem with weapons, a problem no civilized country has. But then again, we’re not talking about a civilized country but a capitalism ruled country.
The room next to where you installed it at home will still have problems getting more than 2 lines of WiFi.
Thank you for your service, fellow user.
Fact is these devices are not illegal because they can run retro games. What is illegal is selling them with the games inside.
If the batteries were not legally compliant, that’s a whole different matter. But the article puts the focus on how they could play “licensed” games and were illegal when that’s a blatant lie. These consoles are completely legal (from a copyright standpoint) if they are sold without any games and you then get the games by yourself.
No surprise here. Those were idiots trying to profit from someone else’s labour. It’s not illegal to sell a retro gaming console capable of playing gba games (to name one), what’s illegal, and these imbeciles should have known is to sell them full of licensed games.
Well deserved imho.
Edit: gotta love getting downvoted for this. I guess people are butthurt because someone profiting from piracy got screwed. Well, that’s how it is. These guys could have sold the consoles without games and nothing could have happened. Piracy by itself shouldn’t be about profiting from other people’s work. That’s why every single cracker group tells you that if you paid for their cracked games, you were scammed.
But I guess people think that profiting from piracy is fine… Oh well…
Yes. That’s very me. Too me.
