I can attest to you being half right based on my two Puerto Rican coworkers, both Trumpers.

One rationalized his choice by saying two things (paraphrasing his words):

1. Puerto Ricans have the same trash sentiment about Dominicans and aren’t shy about it. So since they dish it out, they should be able to take it.

2. He decided Puerto Rico is trash because the government is corrupt and pockets all the US federal funding.

It didn’t bother him that Tony Hinchcliffe, or Trump’s campaign at large has no place saying these things.

The other coworker has changed his mind and is NOT ok with the comments. It may be too late since he probably already voted; I’m not going to ask him.

On a driving business trip, it came as a shock to some of my white coworkers that some of our black coworkers did NOT want to hit up Cracker Barrel for breakfast. A little learning took place that day.

Well put. Without the social media lies this country would be very different. I really hope education will develop that imparts critical thinking/warns of the consequences of sensationalism. But even with that, people have to want to learn.

But I’ve also seen some worry that if Trump loses (and he damn well better lose), when the CR expires about a month before Harris’ inauguration, this possibly leads to government gridlock, thereby emboldening another January 6 attempt.

Personally I expect another J6 whether the government is funded or not, but I’d feel better about things if it was funded.

Look, the important thing here is for Johnson to maintain his true-orange loyalty status. He would never let trivial matters like government funding get in the way of that.

I had a similar impression she’s been keeping a lower profile for awhile. I don’t keep up with her apart from headlines, but until last week she’d seemed quieter.

I don’t know how anyone can watch this and not feel Trump is exposed as being nonsensical and vindictive. I feel hopeful that Kamala is changing plenty of undecided minds, though I wish she’d been able to expand more on policy and less on Trump’s lies.
