Thank you for kindly bringing my attention to that error. It was a very important point and I’m glad I was able to correct it.
It’s interesting that the link you posted indicates the purple hearts he received were probably part of the surplus manufactured in WWII, in anticipation of the losses they expected in the invasion of Japan, which never happened.
