COVID was when the problems with Donald Trump came for the MAGA crowd. The problem with the MAGA crowd is they are fundamentally selfish. They lack the empathy to understand that problems that don’t impact them directly are real

I didn’t notice covid shifting the needle for 99% of Republicans, even as their relatives died. Even personally being impacted barely registers for a small number of them.

For most people, it was becoming increasingly obvious he was a terrible person. But I think a lot of it was really shoved in our faces during the pandemic.

and all he cared about was getting re-elected

The irony here is that all he had to do was listen to the doctors, tell people to wear a mask, and get vaccinated. He would’ve been reelected easily. He probably killed enough of his own voters to cost him the election.

It’s true, before the pandemic I was absolutely sure he was getting reelected. All people care about a lot of times is whether the economy is doing well, and even if not deserved, the president gets credit or scorn for the state of it during their tenure.

My progressive father got radicalized as old age caused him to spend more time indoors watching television. He went from anti-orange to team-orange. It made me very sad.

Orange-shitbag’s mishandling of the pan brought him back. He was anti-orange again. I’m so glad he got redemption before he died.

    Translation :

“Because I’m a fucking ghoul rat, I see the shit-smelling Trump ship sinking. So now I want to pretend that - even though I voted for the skid-mark 3 times - I’m someone you should definitely see as a decent person because only now (but not after he said “grab them by the pussy” or when he made fun of the disabled reporter, or when he threw kids in cages, or when he lied constantly, spouted demagoguery, or pushed his supporters to storm the Capitol building in D.C.) - when he looks to be politically vulnerable - I want to distance myself and pretend I’m somehow worthy of praise while also hoping to be able to be re-elected eventually when people start looking at voting for Rs again.”

Three times? But there have only been two elections since MAGA was born, the third one is coming up… Primaries, rightrightright.

The mayor of Mesa, Arizona, John Giles, also spoke Tuesday night. Giles, a self-described “life-long Republican,” made headlines in July when he broke with his party and endorsed Harris.

“I have an urgent message for the majority of Americans who, like me, are in the political middle,” he said. “John McCain’s Republican Party is gone, and we don’t owe a damn thing to what’s been left behind. So let’s turn the page. Let’s put country first.”

Yes, let’s put country first. These are Republicans we can work with. Let’s have more of that!
