I created this community 3 years ago, expecting more users. Of course, it was the birth of lemmy, with no real niche communities i’m happy with the reddit exodus : i hope more users will join. God I miss hiking. One of my dreams is to go the Appalachian trail or to hike across Europe. But I cannot forsee myself taking such an extended time off from work. :( day / weekend only trips for me until I win the lottery

Your english is good. I have no experience backpacking. Can you tell me one of your best backpacking stories?
To be honest, i’m a newbie in real backpacking : my first experience was a one year gap to visit south east asia with a backpack. But that doesn’t happen as in the movies or youtube video : south east asia is very hot, even a 4 kg backpack with 1 water liter you have to carry any time is just impossible. At the end, i put my backpack in a rolling suitcase 😁 That’s why i want to learn from real backpacker, and i like open-source too, so lemmy is the right place for me
