That is bad construction, add a foam layer over the compartments and problem is solved.

As I write this I see that this community is about aincent coins, and I can understand that foam might cause a chemical reaction with different metals, but why this is even an issue when the solution is simple I have no idea

I thought about it, but at that point you can just use a normal filler material in the spacer pad, and not risk it with petrolium products

Also they make clear plastic coin cases, I use them on my silver coins. Although they may not fit coins of irregular size or something

Yeah, but the foam is still a petrolium product that can off gas stuff that might harm the metal, better to go with normal fillings like cotton or similar

Traditionally, only select untreated woods like mahogany and acid-free paper and felt are used.

Ah, that makes sense, it was sort of what I was worried about after mentioning foam.

Though my point still stands, the case needs more padding between the compartments and the lid.

I have a set of tools, sockets, that is like this. I took a piece of cardboard and use it as an insert to prevent this kind of mess. I agree with others, this is just bad design.

There are seven or eight trays, this is the top one and the only one with the issue. Well, some of the small Greek ones are also messed up, but they’re like… 7mm wide and super thin, so you can sort of forgive that.

But sure, if I’d bought a proper abafil coin case it’d not be an issue, but I was cheap.
