Well now I’m sad
yeah, this one hit me hard.
Sadness and depression are my default states.
Have you considered drugs
The long-term benefits are unmatched.
Literally nothing can go wrong
I was going to say depressed not I guess I’m more numb at this point.
That’s the most depressing thing I’ve seen all day, and I’ve been doomscrolling since I woke up.
Highly relevant Calvin and Hobbes from this day 37 years ago: https://sh.itjust.works/post/16484504
What am I supposed to do about this?
I don’t have an excess of money I can donate to conservation. I can email my local politician but what’s that realistically going to accomplish?
I have no power to change this, but it just makes me feel shitty.
Kill your local billionaire. Lol
My lawyer has advised me not to do this.
Your lawyer is a pussy go for it bro
Take one for the team
Nono, don’t do that.
Eat them instead
I am not putting that trash inside me
Avoid products with palm oil. Orangutan habitat gets razed and replaced by palm oil plantations.
Dismantle capitalism or end resource scarcity those are really the only options.
Far easier would be stopping the use of products made using resources that are created by this
Commonly in this case would be palm oil
Good luck with that, so long as profit exists fucking the planet over to benefit shareholders will as well.
Are you here to help fix the problem or to make everybody more depressed?
Being realistic is the first step to solving anything.
Well when you can realistically get rid of profiting, let me know, I’ll be taking small steps to make things better in the meantime.
Are you here to help fix the problem or to make everybody more depressed?
Yeah we need to dismantle our entire economic system in order to prevent deforestation /s
Downvotes incoming, proper regulation is the actual realistic solution
Is deforestation, fossil fuels, water usage, land usage, animal cruelty.
No need to be so myopic greed is the cause of all of these things.
Enforcing this kind of regulation will need military intervention. The actual negotiable solution is to pay those nations to preserve the land. You can’t stop them from making money from their resources.
You can not buy products from the country doing this.
Or from any of the companies that have that country’s resources in their supply chains. It’s hard for ordinary people to know what to do. Buying less stuff altogether isn’t a bad place to start though.
Good luck not buying soap, toothpaste, or shampoo. Palm oil is used in damn near everything today since it’s the most oil/acre around today.
You could come to Atlanta and help stop Cop City, as long as you don’t mind getting murdered or [blatantly over-]charged with terrorism for occupying a forest.
Yeah it’s fucking shit I’ll let you know if I think of anything. Probably will eventually idk 🤷🏻♂️
Don’t you see? Falling into depression and learned helplessness is doing something.
/s
can we all overthrow our govts and destory the corporations and kill all billionaires please
i hate overthrowing and all that like i’ll do it if that’s what we’re doing but it’s just so much work and i rly like shopping
What if we give the other great apes the knowledge of agriculture?
This is how a supervillain is born
If I ever win the Powerball, I’m going to disappear, and spend my time hunting poachers and rainforest loggers.
Malaysia and Indonesia don’t give a fuck. Not like any of us can do anything about it.
If we stop buying their goods in the West it’s all going to go to China anyway.
Our best bet is to take their DNA and maybe years in the future we can do something. Short of protecting that land with guns this will keep going on.

This photo is going to be on textbooks in a few years. Well, if we are still hoing to have textbooks in a few years.
