Me and my SO find ourselves more often than not just browsing through what’s available on various services but not feeling like we find anything we want to watch. I don’t think it’s necessary to list what we’ve watched because almost all of the big things we have already watched. So I’m looking for some diamonds in the rough that might have gone under the radar. The type of shows that we typically enjoy is stuff like, Dark, the Leftovers and Succession.

A month late but - Highly recommend Severance, it’s fantastic and touches that same mystery as Dark all around phenomenal. Another really good one is The Devil’s Hour. It’s basically the exact same genre type as Dark, albeit the directing work is quite a bit more rough. The plot and is still really good though and I love Peter Capaldi.

Have you watched Mr. Robot? That’s my favorite show and in the same vein of mind-bendy, twists & turns & cliffhangers. It can be a slow start since it takes almost the whole first season to reveal what kind of show it is, but well worth it.

It is fantastic. The music editor made some amazing choices (the OK Go song from the final season (E11 I think?) is the perfect selection for that scene, with the juxtaposition of its grim lyrics and bubblegum sound) as does whoever determined the episode titles. S4 in particular was unreal with how the http 400 series status codes linked seamlessly to the episode’s content.

Maybe Broadchurch? British crime series with David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker (two doctors) and Olivia Colman

The good place isn’t that niche. But I think it’s worth mentioning just in case you haven’t seen it

One of the real gems I had missed until recently: Orphan Black. And I’ll second the recommendation for Severance.

Personally, I feel Better Call Saul is better.

I wasn’t going to watch it because I kind of hated Breaking Bad by the end because everyone I liked was gone. I turned BCS on randomly one day, gave it a couple episodes and realized I liked it.

BCS basically continued off where BB left off in style, writing, and ideas, and just continues on. There is just more likable characters through the show too.

Oh me too, but I give a way more conservative ranking to people who haven’t seen it. Realistically, it’s like the breaking bad creators just kept getting better and better

I think Better Call Saul started off better than Breaking Bad, since the change to the more law focused conflict felt so refreshing over cartels. I think two season were absolute peak. I loved the law office drama.

But, later seasons started leaning more heavy on the cartels and trying to add suspense to what we knew already happened didn’t hit the same way as the early seasons. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending either with it feeling like it kind of dropped the morally gray aspect of certain characters, and kind of entered cheesy territory.

Rewatching Dark on Netflix. So damn good.

DONT watch an English dub. Watch with original audio and subtitles. I
