I probably unwittingly chose the worst time in known history to switch jobs.

Why is it the worst time?
Last time was in 2020 and every other time past I’ve switched jobs within 2 weeks. My friends tell me it’s a really tough market out there with all the layoffs; our department is probably more privileged actually.
