TLDR: As Henry Cavill is leaving after season 3, these are the billboards Netflix has placed around the UK declaring, pathetically, that “Yes, he’s still Geralt in Season 3”. This is not a joke. This is real. The Witcher Twitter account is tweeting it.

Why are they even doing the show if they hate the source material so much? I mean, I know the answer is money but it just seems odd to even take on the project if you don’t like the story.

I totally agree, but reading between the lines and just seeing how things are working across entertainment, it looks like it’s just a job people get. Right now the bright eyed and bushy tailed people saying “I want to be a writer in showbusiness!” come from divergent backgrounds and ideologies. Some are “woke”, some are “anti woke”, but from what it looks like it’s just a job. They may want to write contemporary stories about LGBTQ struggles, or economic struggles, talk about certain issues, but what’s for sure is that the current crop of writers are injecting much of their own worldview into the entertainment, which is fine, except when they have established exposition that they may not like or prefer, but still have a “job to do”.

I have no issue with inclusiveness, but in showbiz today they forget what made the source material popular and they deviate too much from it. GoT is that well known example where sticking to the book worked until there was no more book to use. I never cared if they had a darker skinned character playing anyone, and I think Anya did wonderful as Yennefer, but they wrecked the story.

Will be interesting to see if there’s a ratings drop this season — will people watch it for Cavill, or have they already given up?

I’ve given up, much love for Cavill but if he’s leaving due to the way they’ve treated him and ru source material then it’s not much incentive to watch.

This is a very weird advertising strategy indeed. I can’t look at any of this objectively because I loved the books (games 1st) and Season 2 did everyone dirty. I can’t bring myself to watch Season 3. They ruined it for me.

I think it’s a wise advertising strategy. I had heard that Cavill was out, and I assumed that meant he wouldn’t be in season 3. That reduced the odds of me watching season 3, since the writing of season 2 was…well, you know. Now that I know he’s still in it, I will definitely watch the next season.

Also, this in no way throws anyone under the bus. Clickbait headline.

I mean, I already knew he was in series 3, but can’t be arsed as I know he’s leaving due to how they’ve treated him and the source material so I have no faith in the series being any cop.
