The theme of the West getting essentially colonized by the East economically is one of the most prevalent cyberpunk tropes of all time. I should say, btw, that I also think the trope is lazy and xenophobic. But it’s certainly not absent.

This isn’t bad, but I was honestly confused by the claim that cyberpunk fiction didn’t expect the rise of China’s economic and social system.
