    This is why theorists talk about “systems” of oppression. People were murdered, homes and businesses were destroyed, and there was and is no legal pathway to addressing individually.

    Meanwhile, the descendants of the massacring whites live on top of wealth and power gained via the massacre.

      I don’t know what can help but it seems like a change in US history education would be extremely helpful. Even states that don’t try to brush over slavery and the civil war really miss the mark when it comes to the farce of Reconstruction and the oppression of Black Americans after the “end” of slavery. Lack of understanding brings a lack of compassion. The Equal Justice Institute has some pretty amazing reports that open my eyes.
