Many might not know, but the developers of Lemmy are communist tankies - and i’m not joking - that spread propagranda and misinformation. They for example deny the genocide of the Uighurs in China as it is a “hoax perpetated by the western propagandists”.
Now, we don’t know where the creator of Kbin stands, but hopefully they aren’t as controversial. As how I see it all the attention they are getting after the great Reddit escape is going to get quite a bit backtracked when all the tankie stuff starts to get a apparent and drives people away again.
Honestly I’d feel the most comfertable with something as close as possible to Reddit, like a one plattform company connected to the fediverse, instead of umbrella plattforms like Kbin, Mastodon, Pixelfed Etc.
But I am hopeful for Kbin and we will see over time where the Kbin creator goes. Luckily as it is the fediverse I can just jump ship to a different project if I see things going to wrong way lol
Also ich finde, deshalb ist die dezentrale Art und Weise wie es hier funktioniert ja gerade so gut.
Wen einem die Firma der klassischen Social-Media-Plattformen nicht gefällt oder diese Scheiße bauen, dann muss man gleich komplett die ganze Plattform wechseln. Das ist bei dezentralen Lösungen nicht der fall und das ist ja auch genau die Idee dahinter. Der Hoster deiner Instanz gefällt dir nicht mehr? Dann geh auf eine andere Instanz oder mach eine eigne auf der du sogar das alte Blocken könntest, wenn du möchtest. Man hat hier die volle Freiheit, sich von solchen Leuten los zureisen. Wir sind hier auf feddit.de und schlimme Instanzen wie Lemmygrad sind von feddit.de ja sogar geblockt soweit ich weiß.
Ich würde nicht wieder komplett wechseln, da die Idee hinter den dezentralen Diensten ja gerade ist, dass man egal wie doof der Admin oder Hoster ist, eben nicht mehr komplett wechseln muss, sondern einfach denn Server wechseln kann. Dank der Open Source Natur müssen wir uns hier ja auch keine Updates gefallen lassen, die wir nicht mögen. Man könnte es in diesem fall einfach Forken und wieder abändern.
