I really like Ernst’s work, and am kinda surprised Holywood hasnt made a biopic about his life yet. Pretty much believed his pet bird from his childhood that died was reincarnated as his sister. Had no formal artistic training other than being interested in the art of patients living in asylums. Fought in WWI. Was part of a thrupple in France.
When WWII broke out he was arrested by the French for being German. Then France fell and he was arrested by the Gestapo for his surrealist art (and preciously having married a Jewish woman). Escaped and fled to America until the 50’s.
It’s pretty rare to see artists having backstories that are just as intriguing as their works!

I really do feel like I can look at this painting for hours and hours and let my eyes find new unexplored patterns as I get lost in the canvas.

For sure, but at the same time I want to go deeper into it?
I know no context about this painting. But I am making a game, and what this painting is saying is inspiring. The sharp angles and straight lines, mixed in with the natural fall colors and winding lines. It speaks doom, but at the same time, a new beginning. The circle in the middle presenting the cycle is complete.
