Hamas committed atrocities to provoke an Israeli response, and Israel has done exactly what Hamas wanted.
Neither is blameless. But they are also not the same.
Israel is murdering indiscriminately, and is a state run by bigots who do not care about Palestinian lives. In the guise of national defense, the state is committing genocide.
Hamas is a terrorist organization who targeted, raped, and murdered Israeli civilians. They were not operating under the pretense of war, targeting military or security forces. Their goal was to terrorize, and their stated mission is the genocide of Israelis.
There are no good guys in this story. No heroes. This is a holy war and there are two sides. Both feel justified to take any action against their enemies, and both see their enemies as less than human.
Peace will not come without compromise, without forgiveness, without empathy. And looking at the pieces on the board, I don’t see any of that anywhere.
Both the IDF (Israeli government) and Hamas are committing atrocities. No amount of tears on camera are going to bring back those dead civilians.
You don’t bomb refugee camps and you don’t have fire fights in hospitals.
