While I consider myself a socialist and demand free basic necesities for everyone according to their needs and more, those guys are straight up tankies from what i heard, like… going as far as to defend tyranical regimes like china and being apologists for the soviet and maoist regimes, and banning you if you dare to say china bad.

Lemmy is essentially forum software. It can be connected to other instances, but it’s not mandatory. Creating a stand-alone site that isn’t connected to anywhere else is a perfectly legitimate use, if that’s what someone wanted to do.
