I suspect it’s supposed to make Tory-leaning floating voters feel pressure to vote and give the impression that Labour are sure to win, making Labour-leaning floating voters less motivated to show up. Seems a bit early given the election won’t be called for some time yet.
This has to be bad news. Given the UKIP entryism into local parties, this will likely further embed the Conservatives’ shift away from the centre, towards the far-right.
We need a centre-right party in UK politics. The longer the far right are able to wear the skin of the old Conservative party, the more unwarranted influence they will have over the direction of the country.
Labour are pretty centre right under Starmer.
The Liberal Democrats are centre-right. Labour are comfortably soft-left.
Not really. However Labour is a broad church, always has been, and the reality is they have the most electoral success when they come towards that centre ground. Blair showed that, and on the flip side Corbyn showed that the British public don’t have the stomach for that lurch to the Left. It’s needs to be a slow shift, an election cycle/leader at a time which moves the party and brings the British people with them.

In 4 years time you’ll be saying, “give the Conservatives a chance, they haven’t been in power for 4 years.” Fuck that. We need a new world order that isn’t run by mega corporations hell-bent on profit at any cost. We can’t trust any of the established ruling class any longer.

It’s ridiculous to accuse the Tories of being “neoliberal”. Perhaps they used to be*, but they’ve since morphed into a far right populist party. They are actively working against everything that liberals stand for: free trade, human rights, personal freedoms, regulated free markets, etc.
I get that you don’t like those things, and that you also don’t like the Tories, but to conflate the two just makes you sound ridiculous.

Given the Tory demographic, most of them probably won’t make it to the next election so the longer Richi holds out the better. Perhaps a care assistant could help if wasn’t for the rabid right saying we don’t need carers as a priority group. Imbeciles.
