I have an old Google Pixel 2 XL, and would like to get started with Linux on mobile. What Linux OS would you recommend, and why?

Does GrapheneOS support it? I’ve been using it on a more modern Pixel and I’m very happy with it, but couldn’t comment on the Pixel 2XL.

Afraid not. So it’s running CalyxOS ATM. Otherwise fan of GrapheneOS which I have on another phone. But would like to give Linux a spin on the 2 XL for testing and updates. I hear Manjaro and Ubuntu should be quite OK. Any experience with em?

I used Manjaro and Plasma mobile on my Pinephone and PC. I still used KDE but will not use Manjaro again. I’ve had PC and phone each fail due to update needing OS reinstall.

I heard Postmarket, Debian and arch good on phones. Phosh is recommended most as the shell.

Thanks for the useful information! I will keep away from Manjaro on mobile, as on PC as I’m not into rolling distros. As for KDE, Postmarket, Debian, Arch and Phosh I will most definitely check them out. Thanks for narrowing down the possibilities.

I understand not wanting rolling distros. I took that position before, but needed OpenSuse Tumbleweed (Leap didn’t work with my hardware as needed newer kernel), and I’ve used for over a year without an issue. It’s stunning.
