I’m slowly moving things away from Apple iCloud to my own private infrastructure.
The next thing on my list is photo management.
I currently have several Apple Macs, iPhones, iPads, and a Samsung/Android tablet.
I’m looking for a photo management software I can host myself (of course), but it needs to be integrate well on iOS/iPadOS. It would be handy if I could use the iPhone’s “save photo” functionality (which saves photos to the Apple Photos app) in order to save photos to the self-hosted solution. (Or perhaps a solution that automatically gets new photos from the Apple Photos app and transfers them into the self-hosted software).
It would also be useful if there is a way to run multiple photo libraries on the same device. For instance, I often take photos of family with my iPhone, but also take photos with the iPhone and the Android tablet of work things; it would be handy if I could put these into different libraries, preferably at the time of taking the photo.
Could anyone please recommend something suitable?
Thank you in advance.
You are correct about Moments > Synology Photos. Shows how long I’ve been using them.
You might be missing something or I’m not fully understanding the question. If you perform a manual upload them you can choose your location. The automatic upload you can choose a default location and then move them around from there.
We use this as a solution for my family of 4. Each of our cell phones are automatically backed up to our respective folder/library. We then have the ability to share photos.

Then we have another “shared” space and this is where we upload all of our photos from digital cameras, etc.
