During the No Kings protest it seemed like people were really bothered by Mexican flags being waved at the protests. Lots of comments about how we should all be waving American flags. However, today in Alaska there were more Ukraine flags than US flags and not one peep about optics.
That whole optics debate was utter nonsense and we should be just as supportive of Mexico as we are for Ukraine or any other country Trump thinks he can bully.

Waving a Mexican flag seems like cheering for a different team than your home city. It shouldn’t feel like that, it should be fine, but it seems just a little strange if you are not Mexican, and a little disloyal somehow if you are.
Waving a Ukrainian flag at Putin seems like cheering for your team against one of your rivals.
Something like that. I can’t articulate it how I want to. But it makes sense to me.
