    microsoft is sad example of why divesting doesn’t work since their tendrils are cemented in nearly all public institutions through their products like word, or excel, or teams.

      Divestment organizers never really had a breakthrough in Microsoft like they did in other companies or organizations. Divestment is one of the best applications of worker power, but you need to build that power and Microsoft is very under-organized, especially in the US.

      It does work, though. If you move away from Word, Excel, etc., that gives you more independence from surveillance capitalism.

        Divesting works. I’m pointing out that they’re not divesting from Microsoft.
