I want to balance looks and performance.
Window Maker.
I meant window manager. T_T
Window Maker is a window manager.
o rly?
Interesting…
Sway is quite a safe bet. SwayFX if you want rounded corners, shadows, or blurring.
ok. Guess i’m switching from hyprland to sway.
I’ve found Hyprland to be more stable and performant than Sway, but I haven’t used Sway since January. As the other commenter said, it also has more features. You could definitely turn off enough Hyprland features to get a more Sway-like experience visually.
Ah, well SwayFX doesn’t have animations. Use it if you like (I do), but Hyprland does have more features.
I’ve been liking KDE Plasma a bit too much. Currently using it for everything.
Give MaomaoWM a shot it’s like dwl, river, hyprland all rolled into one and is very light on resources.
Kwin
I cross-posted to Window Managers. You can ask anything there.
:)
I find River to be the fastest but Sway would be the best balanced option, and most similar to Hyprland than River.
It’s be useful if you linked the post. I can’t find it.
That is weird it should show that it is cross-posted.
Only one replied but here it is
I’ve been using i3 for a long time. It’s extremely practical while still looking good with relatively small amount of effort, it has sane defaults IMO and it’s utterly stable. If you really want window margins, you should probably look elsewhere, though - i3-gaps works well, but it’s really annoying to update it manually every time there’s an update for i3 (I don’t think window margins are worth it, though, they just waste so much screen space). i3 also doesn’t support Wayland.
no stability is not a concern? a great many choices lay ahead!
Hyprland
